Definition: Number of K-12 public school students expelled from school per 1,000 students, by disability status (e.g., in 2018-2020, 0.8 per 1,000 California students with disabilities were expelled from school).

Footnote: Students with disabilities are those who have received special education services in the previous two years. Years presented comprise two school years (e.g., 2018-19 and 2019-20 school years are shown as 2018-2020). For each school year, students expelled in more than one county are counted in each county but only once in California totals. The notation S refers to data that have been suppressed because fewer than 20 students in that group were expelled from school or to protect student privacy.
