Definition: Estimated percentage of children ages 0-17 living with and without parents or other relatives, by legislative district (e.g., in 2014-2018, 63.8% of California children were in living arrangements with two parents present).
Data Source: U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey (Jan. 2020).
Footnote: In households with two parents present, parents can be married or unmarried. Children in living arrangements with no parents or other relatives present include children in non-family households (e.g., non-kinship foster placements), children in group quarters, and those who are householders, spouses, or unmarried partners. These estimates are based on a survey of the population and are subject to both sampling and nonsampling error.
